Vintage VW Bug Rooftop Camping Set Up

Earlier today I showed you a modern version of this where the BMW Group is toying with the idea of offering their Mini Cooper customers camping and even teardrop trailer packages. I think this is a pretty smart move although we both know you can always find DIY solutions that are much cheaper. But for those of us who don’t have the time for night and weekend projects, this might just do the trick.

For the rest of us, there’s always options like this. Use your current vehicle and match it up with affordable products like this (a rooftop tent) to create your own off grid vehicular camping solution.

What ideas do you have to turn your current vehicle into an adventure machine? Please share in the comments below. And if you want help us spread the word with a “Like” or share using the buttons below.

  1. My wife and I have spent decades tent camping, sleeping on the ground, in 37 different states (so far), via motorcycle. If we were to travel by car instead – something we might do in the future, we would absolutely tent camp with a roof top camper, a number of which are currently sold in the US.

  2. I have been toying with the idea of a tent trailer that can be towed behind a small scooter (49cc-100cc) or bicycle.
