Top 5 Tips on How to Organize your Small Space Fast

Getting organized makes life so much easier, no matter what size your home is. When living in small spaces organizing becomes a priority. To thoroughly enjoy every inch of your tiny home you are going to have to clean up. These organizing tips will help you tidy up fast.

1. Use storage furniture.

This seems like a no-brainer but it is very important to remember this when you have limited space. Furniture with storage built in is a must. Always look for multiple functioning pieces that have drawers, shelfs or dividers. This will help reduce visual clutter.

2. Closet Savvy.

Use clear bins to hold shoes, belts, scarves, etc. Add labels to the boxes for extra storage so you can remember what put in it by labeling it. Keep all clothes either hanging or in drawers but in most cases, you want it out of sight.

3. Hook it up!

Add decorative hooks by the bathroom, kitchen, or front door to keep keys, hats, towels, jackets and scarves out of the way.

4. Divide it.

Add drawer dividers to keep the inside of drawers organized. I know everyone has a junk drawer you just throw everything in. This will help you find things better and stay organized easier.

5. Give it a home.

If you no longer use or have a need for any item in your home including clothing get rid of it! Give it away, donate it, sell it, recycle it, or throw it away if you have to. Only keep what you really really like and use.

This amazing micro cabin treehouse is located in Tregaminion, St. Keverne, England, United Kingdom. It’s set in an ash tree with incredible views of the countryside and the sea. It’s right by Falmouth Bay so I’m sure there are some incredible sunsets.

The treehouse itself has a double bed, seating area, micro kitchen, and bathroom with composting toilet. Access to the cabin is via a wooden staircase.

A Treehouse Poem

A tree house, a free house,
A secret you and me house,
A high up in the leafy branches
Cozy as can be house.

A street house, a neat house,
Be sure and wipe your feet house
Is not my kind of house at all-
Let’s go live in a tree house.

This piece of furniture is designed by Ines Kaag and Desiree Heiss of BLESS. It’s called the Workbed because it’s a desk that can be flipped over and used as a bed as well. So it’s perfect if you work from home and are short on space or you have an extra room or space in your home that you want to use as an office and guest room. I also thought it could work pretty well in some tiny houses or at least in a small cabin, cottage, studio, or apartment.

Genius Dish Storage & Drainage Idea for your Tiny Home Kitchen

genius-dish-drain-storage-for-tiny-homes

I think this is such a smart idea for tiny kitchens- or ALL kitchens really- but when you don’t have a dishwasher or don’t want to use one… This would just RULE. I’d love to have this in my tiny apartment where we don’t have (or even want) a dishwasher. But I can see how this would be a time saver because you don’t have to dry and move the plates around when you’re done washing. 🙂

Space Saving Booth Style Kitchen Seating/Dining

kitchen-booth-space-saving-for-dining

Thought you might also like this idea for a space saving dining booth near your kitchen whether you go with a tiny house or a small home. In most RVs you get a set up like this but no storage because it converts into a bed at night. If you go with a more permanent dining arrangement like this, you can add storage drawers into the design to create extra space to store your kitchen goods.

“All design, fabrication, assembly, carpentry and cabinet work, except as noted in the acknowledgements below, were performed by The Federal Motorhome Company, under the direction of CEO John M. Driscoll. My wife and partner, Valerie, accepted the responsibility for esthetic considerations, such as colors, fabric, and furniture. Her choices helped transform this vehicle into a home. The project has been a great journey over the past 42 years. We have traveled about 40,000 miles through 20 states and Canada and the time we have spent living and raising our family in it probably adds up to a year.” (source)

This SIP Tiny House is built using Structurally Insulated Panels. This means that once the design is complete you can have the panels used to build the main components of the home cut by a manufacturer of SIPs.

Then you can gather friends to help put it together using a screw gun and construction glue. At this point you have your basic shell completed and fully insulated.

“The panels allow someone with out the technical knowledge of framing a house to erect a structure that is stronger and better insulated in a weekend.  I hope you are inspired to create your own tiny house and that you now have an example of a different construction method to explore.” – Art, TinySIPHouse.blogspot.com
