Tiny Cabin in Belize

This is a tiny cabin in Belize sent in to us from one of our awesome readers. He says Belize is tiny house heaven! There are three growing seasons and even during the non-growing season you can still use a shade cloth over your garden so you can grow your own food year round!

Would you move to Belize to live in a tiny house on your own little homestead?

Top 5 Tips on How to Organize your Small Space Fast

Getting organized makes life so much easier, no matter what size your home is. When living in small spaces organizing becomes a priority. To thoroughly enjoy every inch of your tiny home you are going to have to clean up. These organizing tips will help you tidy up fast.

1. Use storage furniture.

This seems like a no-brainer but it is very important to remember this when you have limited space. Furniture with storage built in is a must. Always look for multiple functioning pieces that have drawers, shelfs or dividers. This will help reduce visual clutter.

2. Closet Savvy.

Use clear bins to hold shoes, belts, scarves, etc. Add labels to the boxes for extra storage so you can remember what put in it by labeling it. Keep all clothes either hanging or in drawers but in most cases, you want it out of sight.

3. Hook it up!

Add decorative hooks by the bathroom, kitchen, or front door to keep keys, hats, towels, jackets and scarves out of the way.

4. Divide it.

Add drawer dividers to keep the inside of drawers organized. I know everyone has a junk drawer you just throw everything in. This will help you find things better and stay organized easier.

5. Give it a home.

If you no longer use or have a need for any item in your home including clothing get rid of it! Give it away, donate it, sell it, recycle it, or throw it away if you have to. Only keep what you really really like and use.

This amazing micro cabin treehouse is located in Tregaminion, St. Keverne, England, United Kingdom. It’s set in an ash tree with incredible views of the countryside and the sea. It’s right by Falmouth Bay so I’m sure there are some incredible sunsets.

The treehouse itself has a double bed, seating area, micro kitchen, and bathroom with composting toilet. Access to the cabin is via a wooden staircase.

A Treehouse Poem

A tree house, a free house,
A secret you and me house,
A high up in the leafy branches
Cozy as can be house.

A street house, a neat house,
Be sure and wipe your feet house
Is not my kind of house at all-
Let’s go live in a tree house.

This piece of furniture is designed by Ines Kaag and Desiree Heiss of BLESS. It’s called the Workbed because it’s a desk that can be flipped over and used as a bed as well. So it’s perfect if you work from home and are short on space or you have an extra room or space in your home that you want to use as an office and guest room. I also thought it could work pretty well in some tiny houses or at least in a small cabin, cottage, studio, or apartment.

Shipping Containers used to Build a Houseboat

“The mantra for the 21st century is to do more with less, and many building pioneers are exploring how to repurpose material to construct homes. A new example can be seen at a marina in Belfast, where Brooklin boatbuilder Steve White has parked his new houseboat, constructed from shipping containers.” (source)

According to one of our awesome readers, Robert F., Steve White (the builder) is the son of Joel White who was known as one of the best boat designers. Joel’s father was author E.B. White (Charlotte’s Web). Interesting, right?!
